The South Carolina Gamecocks, like many teams around the country, were hit hard by transfer portal losses this offseason.

But, on Monday, it was announced that a new player was heading to Columbia, and he has a familiar name.

As you can see below, Brandon Martin — son of South Carolina head coach Frank Martin — took to Twitter to announce he was transferring to join the Gamecocks:

Martin had previously been at USC Upstate, but appeared in only 3 games last season:

During his 3 years at Upstate, Martin played in 57 games, making 3 starts. He averaged 5.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest.

We’ll see what role he carves out for himself with the Gamecocks.
