Free falling: Jake Fromm’s NFL Draft slide becomes talk of Saturday

Georgia QB Jake Fromm was expected to be among the first handful of quarterbacks taken in the NFL Draft. Draft experts penciled him in for the third round, but maybe a bit lower.
But as the fourth round wrapped up, Fromm was still on the board as the fifth round began as he became a hot topic of conversation on draft television coverage and social media. The debates on the television coverage of the draft centered on Fromm’s leadership abilities and strong win-loss record at Georgia, against his poor combine performance, and relative lack of physical tools, such as arm strength. Georgia’s offensive struggles in 2019 were no secret, and they were one of the issues brought up that contributed to his draft slide.
One of the best Georgia quarterbacks of all time, his 8,224 career passing yards is fourth on UGA’s all-time list, and his 78 career TD passes are second place on UGA’s all-time list.
Fromm also went 36-7 at Georgia, and has above average leadership capabilities. However, in the fourth round alone, 8 SEC players were taken ahead of him, and 48 total SEC players were selected in the first 4 rounds.
When Jacob Eason was taken by the Indianapolis Colts, the old debate about Eason versus Fromm at Georgia, and Justin Fields’ involvement was stoked once more.
Which makes it even more incredible the (potential) No. 1 pick in the draft next year transferred to get away from him.
I’ll never understand how Kirby Smart let that happen, even if it was a pretty impossible situation to navigate. https://t.co/aY7i7fM8vO

Remember this from Georgia fans.
“Justin Fields couldn’t read a defense”
“Jake Fromm hands down is better than Justin Fields”
“Kirby made the right decision picking Fromm over Fields”
