Ole Miss is currently installing a new offense this spring in Oxford under the guidance of first-year offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez but that installation will have to be done without the services of redshirt sophomore tight end Gabe Angel.
The 6-foot-3, 236-pound Angel announced on Friday that he will be leaving the program and plans to be a graduate transfer this offseason. Angel came to Ole Miss rated as a four-star prospect Cookeville High School in Lebanon, Tenn. He will have two seasons of remaining eligibility wherever school he transfer to and will be eligible immediately due to being a graduate transfer.
He posted the following message on Twitter announcing the news:
“I cannot express in to words how much Oxford, Mississippi and Ole Miss means to me! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Ole Miss. I want to thank all of my coaches, staff and teammates for everything they have done for me. Thank you to the coaches that gave me an opportunity as an 18-year-old, high school senior to play the game I love for this great university. After much thought and prayer with my family and friends, I will receive my Bachelor’s degree in May and become a graduate transfer. I look forward to seeing my future options to play football, and obtain my Master’s degree from another university. Once again, I cannot thank the Ole Miss family enough for the 3 seasons spent here. I wish the program the best in the future!”
