Everybody wants to be a superfan, but only a select few can claim to be as dedicated as South Carolina fan Kirk Hollingsworth.

Hollingsworth has not missed a Gamecocks contest in 25 years. Unfortunately, it looked like that streak may come to an end this weekend when the Gamecocks travel to Missouri.

Ben Breiner with The State reported the story.

South Carolina superfan Kirk Hollingsworth’s streak of attending Gamecocks football games stood at 25 years and 295 games. But a planned bus trip to Missouri was canceled, and a few other efforts didn’t come together. It appeared the streak might be snapped.

Hollingsworth had all but announced on Twitter that he would be watching the game on television, but he was okay with it due to special circumstances surrounding the approach of Hurricane Irma. Still, South Carolina fans rallied on social media to find a way to get Hollingsworth a way to the game on Saturday.

“The University of South Carolina called and said they’ve got room for me on the…plane that leaves out in the morning,” Hollingsworth said. “Ray Tanner got this thing organized in a quick fashion. I’ll be going.”

Hollingsworth’s incredible streak will live on, and he took to Twitter to thank all those involved in getting him to the game.

Kickoff between South Carolina and Missouri is set for 7 PM Saturday on ESPN 2.
