Bryan McClendon just completed his first regular season as South Carolina’s offense coordinator. The school clearly wants to keep him happy as the board of trustees has reportedly approved a raise increasing his salary from $650,000 to $1 million, as reported by Josh Kendall of The State.

Under McClendon, South Carolina finished No. 6 in the SEC in yards per game (440.2), up from No. 12 last season (337.1). The Gamecocks were seventh in the conference in scoring offense (32.6 points per game), up from No. 12 (24.2) in 2017 under Kurt Roper.

As Kendall notes, McClendon joins a club of 21 other coordinators with seven-figure salaries. Eleven of those coordinators coach for SEC teams, including South Carolina’s own Travaris Robinson, the Gamecocks’ defensive coordinator. Last season, only Alabama and Auburn paid both coordinators more than $1 million. Auburn has since parted with offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and hired his replacement, Kenny Dillingham, at a salary of $500,000. Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley is the new head coach at Maryland.

Other news from the board of trustees meeting includes quarterbacks Dan Werner receiving a bump in pay from $500,000 to $700,000. Robinson was extended through the 2021 season while head coach Will Muschamp is now extended through 2024.
