GameDay researcher digs up incredible underdog stat heading into Alabama-LSU

Perhaps the most-anticipated game of the year will take place on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, when No. 1 Alabama takes on No. 4 LSU.
When the gambling lines opened, Alabama was a 14-point favorite, even though LSU is a top-five team and playing at home.
When was the last time a top-four team was a double-digit underdog at home, you ask? Well, per Chris “Bear” Fallica of ESPN, it was actually Auburn before the famous “Kick Six” game:
With Alabama being a 14-point favorite at LSU, In the last 40 years, only one other Top 4 team has been a double-digit dog on its home field – 2013 No. 4 Auburn +10.5 vs No. 1 Alabama. Also known as the “Kick Six” Game.

Of course, the past doesn’t have any impact on this weekend’s game, but that’s certainly an eyebrow-raising stats.
Being a two-touchdown underdog at home is sure to motivate the Tigers, though, so we’ll see how the game plays out.
