Florida fans expressed their frustration after linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper was ejected during the 3rd quarter of the Gasparilla Bowl against UCF.
With 5-and-a-half minutes played in the 3rd, Hopper was shown making contact with a Knights player, who went to the ground. After a penalty flag was thrown, Hopper was tossed after it was ruled that he punched the player.
Here’s a look at the replay that shows the contact.

The Pac-12 refereeing crew received a great deal of negative attention after the call, and it appears that it was for good reason following a closer look at what happened. It’s tough to see where Hopper punched the Knights players, if at all.
Here’s some of the reaction to the call:
Can’t believe hopper got ejected for that lol what a joke

Hopper barely pushed that man and gets ejected for a punch…. PAC 12 refs are trash lol

Hopper didn’t throw a punch. He definitely shouldn’t have been ejected. Totally bogus call.

PAC 12 crew call everything tight so there’s gonna be more flags for unsportsmanlike conduct

Watching the #GasparillaBowl and the Pac-12 officials are showing out like usual for a national audience. Missed calls, slow reviews, the whole gamut.

The country gets to see how bad Pac 12 refs are now.

Hopper was actually enjoying a strong game as he had recorded 4 tackles, a sack, and 1.5 tackles for a loss. Unfortunately for him and the Gators, his night has been cut short.
