Gene Chizik confident transfer QB Kelly Bryant will be a difference-maker
Since Clemson’s Kelly Bryant announced his intent to transfer last week, several people have floated Auburn as a potential landing spot for the graduate quarterback.
One former Auburn coach believes the Tigers would be lucky to have him.
In a speaking appearance Wednesday, Gene Chizik raved about Bryant’s ability and seemed convinced that whichever team gets his services will be in a good spot.
Gene Chizik at NWA TD club: Kelly Bryant Is really, really good.
Trevor Lawrence must be extraordinary to beat out Kelly Bryant. I would push all my chips in on him.— Thomas Murphy (@TomMurphyADG) October 3, 2018
Chizik coached Auburn from 2009-2012, most notably winning the national title in his second year with Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton running the offense. Bryant has been linked to Auburn mostly because he has rushing abilities like Newton, who thrived under then-offensive coordinator and current Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn.
Others believe Bryant would be a good fit under Chad Morris at Arkansas, but it’s still unclear where he intends to transfer. Either way, we know Chizik will think highly of the team Bryant ends up quarterbacking next season.
