Geno Auriemma after loss at South Carolina: ‘We’re allowed to lose a g—–n game once in a while’

This has been a bit of a down year for the UConn women’s basketball team, as the Huskies entered a game at No. 1 South Carolina ranked No. 4 in the country with a 20-2 record.
Yeah, when 20-2 is a down year, you have a heck of a program. That’s what Geno Auriemma wanted to remind media members after the Huskies fell to 20-3 with a 70-52 loss to the Gamecocks on Monday night.
After the game, Auriemma said UConn is actually allowed to lose a game every once in a while:
Geno Auriemma: "We're allowed to lose a goddamn game once in a while, where the other team plays better than us. So how about you write that somewhere, South Carolina played way better than Connecticut. That's allowed to happen once in a while."

South Carolina is the No. 1 team for a reason, but UConn will still be a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA Tournament.
Can the Huskies regroup from this loss? We’ll find out moving forward.
