Georgia wide receiver George Pickens hasn’t played yet in 2021 following an ACL tear in spring. After emerging as one of the Bulldogs’ leading receivers in his first 2 years, he was expected to build upon that and position himself as a high pick in the 2022 NFL Draft before his injury.

Now, 8 months later, Pickens has made the biggest step yet in his return. For the first time this season, the junior has dressed out for a game as the Dawgs face FCS Charleston Southern at Sanford Stadium:

This is a game the Bulldogs should win going away, so it’s unlikely that Pickens will see much time on the field if at all. But if he is able to show that he is healthy enough to carry on heading into the SEC Championship Game, and presumably the College Football Playoff after that, it will equal an enormous boost to the Georgia offense ahead of the most important time of the season.

Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Buccaneers is at noon ET on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.
