Georgia adds to 2025 class with commitment from in-state offensive lineman
Georgia has landed a commitment from Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview offensive lineman Cortez Smith.
A 6-foot-3, 310-pound prospect from the Class of 2025, Smith chose the Bulldogs from a final 4 that also included Georgia Tech, Miami, and South Carolina. He took official visits to each of his finalists, and Georgia got the final pitch to him at the end of June. He told 247Sports he had been a silent commit since that visit, and he made things public on Saturday.

Smith is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He ranks as the No. 6 interior lineman in the class and the No. 16 recruit from the Peach State. Overall, he sits at No. 132 in the national player rankings. Just looking at his size, he’ll likely be an interior option at Georgia and beyond. But he has a good blend of size and speed to play any of the 3 interior spots.
A multi-sport athlete and a state champion, Smith won the Georgia 7A shot put state title as a junior with a throw of 56-2. He finished second in the discus with a 167-4.
Georgia missed on a blue-chip linebacker from the state earlier in the day — losing him to Tennessee. But Smith’s verbal pledge gives the Bulldogs 6 of the state’s top 21 prospects. Kirby Smart is viewed as the favorite to land commitments from 3 more, including the top 2 recruits in the state for the 2025 cycle — both of them 5-star defensive linemen.
The Bulldogs now hold commitments from 21 known recruits in the 2025 class. The group ranks third nationally. You can see Smith’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
