Georgia’s secondary won’t have a good week in the film room and it appears Faton Bauta has made things interesting in the starting quarterback race.
Brice Ramsey, the clubhouse leader under center, threw a 72-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah McKenzie in the first half and hooked up with Reggie Davis for a 60-yard gain to highlight his afternoon while Bauta exuded growing confidence from the pocket during Black’s 24-17 win over Red in the Bulldogs’ annual spring game on Saturday.
Running with the 1s after Ramsey took a seat, Bauta completed six straight passes and finished the first half 10-of-13 for 127 yards, a line featuring a 25-yard play-action touchdown pass to a wide open Jordan Davis. It doesn’t appear either quarterback leaped the other in a battle that will carry over into fall practice.

Richt wants to have a clear starting quarterback by the opener, but acknowledged it's a "possibility" they'll play two vs. La.-Monroe.

In the first quarter, Ramsey hit McKenzie in stride just beyond the safety and the sophomore speedster did the rest, showcasing his wheels to the end zone. McKenzie did however come up limping after crossing the goal line and did not return after being diagnosed with a hamstring pull.
The Bulldogs can’t afford anymore injuries to skill players offensively with Keith Marshall and Sony Michel already sidelined.

The most impressive run of the afternoon came via A.J. Turman when he found a hole on the right side and took a hand-off 52 yards for a touchdown down the visiting sideline. Turman out-ran a safety the final 20 yards to paydirt.
On the next possession, Heisman candidate Nick Chubb found the end zone, much to Todd Gurley’s liking on the sideline. Chubb played a couple series in minimal action.

Senior linebacker Jordan Jenkins and sophomore Lorenzo Carter made several plays defensively as the leaders of what appears to be a quick and athletic unit.
In the first half, Jenkins wrestled tailback Brendan Douglas for a loss behind the line of scrimmage while Carter came swiftly off the edge leading to a whistle sack a few plays later.
Carter finished with five tackles and two pressures unofficially.
Freshman Natrez Patrick was disruptive at the line of scrimmage and was credited with a sack as well. He was one of a couple newcomers, along with Jarvis Wilson, to make an impact for Jeremy Pruitt’s defense.
Georgia will practice twice next week before concluding spring drills.
