Georgia will be without one of its key bench contributors for the first few weeks of the 2019-2020 basketball season.

Just minutes before its season opener against Western Carolina, head coach Tom Crean announced that senior guard Jordan Harris has been ruled ineligible to play and will not appear until Dec. 20. Harris was suspended in Feb. 2018 by now former coach Mark Fox, with the exact reason undisclosed.

However, Harris played a key role in the rotation for the Bulldogs last season, playing in 29 games and starting 13 while averaging 7.9 points and 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He enjoyed a career performance on Mar. 13 in the 1st round of the SEC Tournament against Missouri, scoring 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range. He also sank 7-of-8 free throws, pulled down 6 rebounds and recorded a pair of steals.

The Bulldogs were picked to finish 9th in the SEC preseason poll, ahead of South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Vanderbilt. They finished 11-21 (2-16 SEC) last year in Crean’s 1st season at the helm of the program.
