Georgia, welcome to the danger zone.

The Bulldogs lost to Ole Miss in Oxford on Saturday, 28-10. For the first time in a full season since 2016, Georgia has multiple regular-season losses. And the Dawgs have to turn around and play Tennessee in a week’s time.

That’s potentially a problem for Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs. The Vols have a fantastic front seven and a dynamite tailback. On Saturday, the Rebels sacked Carson Beck 5 times, produced 9 tackles for loss, and ran for 140 yards. Unless those get fixed, Georgia could very much find a third loss.

Against the Rebels on Saturday, Georgia fumbled 4 times. It lost 2 of them and threw an interception. The ground game was swallowed, totaling just 59 yards on 33 carries. Remove the sack yardage and Georgia was still held under 100 rushing yards.

For Smart, there’s a lot that needs to get fixed. This is relatively new territory for the Bulldogs. Whereas past Georgia teams have gotten better as their seasons have gone on, Georgia seems to be stagnating. The Dawgs have followed up a massive win over Texas with an uneven showing against Florida and now a lopsided loss.

Can the Bulldogs still make the College Football Playoff? Certainly.

But after Saturday’s loss to Ole Miss, some are asking if they should.
