With Mark Richt gone, Georgia may have to fight to keep some players from its 2016 recruiting class.
Three players committed to Georgia have taken official visits to other schools this week.
Jacob Eason, the No. 1 quarterback in the nation (according to Rivals), has gotten a lot of attention for visiting Florida this week. Bulldogs fans were probably less than thrilled to see their star recruit wearing a Florida shirt during his visit to Gainesville. The five-star quarterback from Lake Stevens, Wash. has not revealed if he is seriously considering changing schools.
But Eason isn’t the only player looking at other options.
Julian Rochester, a four-star defensive lineman, is visiting Louisville this weekend. Rochester is the No. 6 defensive tackle in the nation. Two of Rochester’s former teammates from McEachern High School in suburban Atlanta play for the Cardinals, and he has also built a relationship with Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, a former Georgia assistant.
Fellow four-star defensive tackle Tyler Clark is taking an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. Clark, a native of Americus, Ga., is the No. 16 defensive tackle in the nation.
Some of Georgia’s recruits have probably been considering their commitments since Richt was fired last weekend after 15 years as the Bulldogs’ coach. Richt was hired as Miami’s coach on Friday, and will likely try to convince some of them to consider the Hurricanes.
