A member of the No. 1-ranked recruiting class for Georgia is not practicing with the team, according to a report from Dawg Nation of the AJC.

Freshman cornerback Daran Branch has not been practicing with the team, according to sources with knowledge of the Georgia football roster, Mike Griffith reported.

Branch is the third player to leave the Georgia secondary this offseason, joining Ole Miss transfer Otis Reese and Central Florida transfer Divaad Wilson.

Branch is a native of Amite, La. and is listed at 6-foot-2 and 178 pounds. He was a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked the No. 49 CB nationally, and No. 27 ranked prospect in Louisiana.

Branch, who had been committed to Ole Miss since Nov. 17, explained his decision to flip to Georgia on National Signing Day when speaking with the media.

“The University of Georgia impacted me in a very special way, a very strong way,” Branch said. “I felt at home. All the people when I went down there showed love. I feel like I fit their system. With the way their schooling is, I feel I can graduate within three years, no problem.”

Georgia sent Branch an offer on Dec. 26, then followed that up by hosting him for an official visit on Jan. 24. However, Branch took a final official visit to Ole Miss on Jan. 31, so it wasn’t clear which of the two schools he would sign with.
