Sophomore DB Rico McGraw was in uniform on the sidelines for Georgia’s Week 1 win over North Carolina, but didn’t see any action.
Instead, graduate transfer DB Maurice Smith got the start and played most of the game.
However, a shoulder injury may be to blame for McGraw’s absence. The sophomore has been dealing with a nagging injury for a while now.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart said McGraw’s injury is unpredictable and therefore making it hard for him to play:
“His shoulder is going in and out on him,” Smart said. “It’s very frustrating, especially for a person who has to use his shoulders. DBs have to use their arms. When it’s slipping in and out it’s very frustrating because you don’t know when it’s going to happen. And when it does, it’s really painful.”
McGraw recorded 20 tackles as a freshman in 2015.
