Georgia will reportedly be without a talented defender for the rest of the 2021 season.

Tykee Smith, a defensive back transfer from West Virginia, tore his ACL in practice, according to On3 Sports.

A West Virginia transfer, Smith made his debut in UGA’s win over Auburn, appearing on special teams and logging one snap at the STAR position. Smith missed the first 5 games of the 2021 season after injuring his foot in preseason camp.

Smith reunited with position coach Jahmile Addae in his transfer to Georgia. In his two seasons playing under Addae at WVU, Smith recorded 111 total tackles, including 10.5 for loss (8 TFL in 2020), 4 interceptions and 9 passes defended.
