Following his second alcohol-related arrest of the offseason, Georgia DL Jonathan Ledbetter returned to practice on Aug. 6, but was mostly limited to conditioning drills on the sidelines.
On Friday, The Telegraph reported that the sophomore was doing some defensive drills earlier this week. Georgia coach Kirby Smart said Ledbetter is working his way back into the team’s good graces after his DUI arrest in July:
“He’s done well. He’s not full-time back with the team,” head coach Kirby Smart said. “He’s got some things he’s still handling, and we’re still helping him. That’s a work in progress. Part of the agreement of him coming back to practice was that he had to continue to do a lot of the things he’s supposed to do.”
Ledbetter has been receiving treatment for his self-admitted substance-abuse problem. He’ll be suspended for at least the first two games of the 2016 season, but Smart has yet to announce the full extent of the punishment.
