Georgia is trying something new to jolt its already strong recruiting efforts.

According to DawgNation.com’s Jeff Sentell, the Bulldogs will host the top 50 freshman prospects in the Peach State during a “Freshman Day” in Athens on Saturday.

The idea, which has apparently already gotten Alabama’s attention, was pushed by former Grayson High School coach Kenyatta Watson to capitalize on what is expected to be a very talented Class of 2019 in the state, according to Sentell.

The class includes Watson’s own son Kenyatta Jr., a candidate for the No. 1 overall prospect for 2019 in Owen Pappoe and former NBA star Mookie Blaylock’s son Dominick Blaylock just to name a few.

Pappoe, an outside linebacker at Grayson High School, tweeted this out on Tuesday.

It’s not as if Georgia has been struggling on the recruiting trail.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, the Bulldogs finished with the No. 7 recruiting class in the country for 2016 and have finished among the top 10 in five of the last six years.

Still, Kirby Smart and Co. are doing the smart thing in improving their ability to protect their talent-rich state.
