There are few high school coaches around the Southeast who have the name recognition and success of Rush Propst.

How that coaching ability translates to the college level is unknown, but could be seen soon at Tennessee, where Propst has admitted to AL.com that he has had talks with, though nothing is official.

Propst’s coaching profile skyrocketed about a decade ago with the MTV show “2-A-Days,” but he soon resigned from Hoover High School in Alabama amid a personal scandal. Propst has since coached at Colquitt County in South Georgia, and has regularly played for state championships, including earlier this month when his team lost in the state title game. He’s coached Colquitt for 10 seasons, and overall in his career, Propst has seven high school state titles.

The Moultrie Observer reported he’s had contact with Alabama and Tennessee about potential jobs. Propst said he has had contact with new Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt about a potential job, but said he hasn’t had any contact with Alabama.

“I have talked to Tennessee, (but) it’s not in concrete,” Propst told AL.com. “There’s no official offer with Tennessee.”

Propst was quoted as saying to the Moultrie paper that “I’m on their radar” for both schools, though he clarified the type of interest at Alabama to AL.com. Evidently, Propst meant that he’d be interested in a job at Alabama, but specifics beyond that were unknown.

“I have not talked with Alabama about any jobs,” he said. “I’m not even aware of any open jobs.”

It’s also unclear what type of position Propst would have at Tennessee, though it’s more likely to be an off-the-field role, AL.com reported.
