Georgia lost a 5-star on Thursday and gained a 5-star back on Friday.
Savannah (Ga.) Christian Prep 5-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin announced his commitment to the Dawgs inside the gym of his high school on Friday. He had a final 3 of Miami, USC, and Georgia, but many have expected Georgia to win this race for quite some time. Now, Griffin has made it all but official.

Griffin is a massive get for the Bulldogs, as he’s been a priority for coach Kirby Smart for years. In the industry-generated 247 Composite, Griffin ranks as the top recruit from Georgia, the top recruit at his position, and the fourth-best recruit overall.
He’s a consensus 5-star prospect. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman has been on Georgia’s board since the program offered him a scholarship as an eighth-grader.
As a freshman, he produced 69 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. During his sophomore season for Savannah Christian Prep, he produced 30 TFLs, 14.5 sacks, a blocked punt, and a blocked kick. As a junior, he again produced elite havoc numbers, totaling 31 TFLs and 17.5 sacks with an interception. He was a MaxPreps Junior All-America selection and the Georgia Class AAA Defensive Lineman of the Year.
He took official visits to Miami and USC in June. Last weekend, he took his official to Georgia and saw all he needed to see.
Griffin’s pledge gives Georgia its 23rd known commitment in the 2025 class. The group ranks third nationally in the 247 Composite team rankings. You can see Griffin’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
