The Georgia men’s basketball team opens the Mike White era on Nov. 7 against Western Carolina in Athens, but a date on the 2023-24 non-conference calendar appears to be set.

According to Rivals.com affiliate UGASports, the Bulldogs are set to play in the Savannah Invitational in 2023. The event is scheduled for Nov. 20-21, 2023 at the new Enmarket Arena, a 9,500-seat venue that opened in February.

As UGASports’ Anthony Dasher notes, the team hasn’t played in Savannah in nearly 20 years. Their last game there was at the Savannah Civic Center on Nov. 21, 2001, a victory over Savannah State.

Georgia finished with a 6-26 record in 2021-22, including a 1-17 mark in SEC play. Afterwards, head coach Tom Crean was fired after 4 seasons after a 47-75 mark (15-57 SEC).

The program then hired White, the head coach at Florida, to take the reins, signing him to a 6-year deal worth $20.9 million. He was 142-88 (72-52 SEC) in Gainesville and led the Gators to 4 NCAA Tournaments and an Elite 8 in 7 seasons.
