Georgia is looking for a new offensive line coach after Matt Luke’s decision to step down.
Earlier this week, FootballScoop reported that Auburn’s Will Friend, Baylor’s Eric Mateos, and former Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa were in contention for the position.
According to a new development, Dave Aranda does not have to worry about losing his offensive line coach to the national champions. David Smoak of Sic Em 365 Radio reports that Mateos is no longer involved as a candidate. Smoak’s tweet does not detail why Mateos is out of the mix for the UGA gig.
BREAKING: I’ve learned through multiple sources @BUFootball OL Coach @CoachMateos is no longer involved as a candidate to become the OL Coach at @GeorgiaFootball. Mateos helped turn one of CFB’s most anemic running games into among the best in 2021 avg 5.38 yards/carry #SicEm

We’ll see if Georgia’s search focuses on Friend and Studrawa, or if the Bulldogs look at other options to replace Luke.
