The Georgia Bulldogs now know their opponent in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, as the Ole Miss Rebels advanced via a 41-10 victory Saturday against Tulane in the CFP first round.
The No. 3 seed Bulldogs and No. 6 seed Rebels will meet in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on New Year’s Day (8 pm ET, ESPN) in a rematch of their instant classic that Georgia won during the regular season.
Georgia opened as a 6.5-point Sugar Bowl favorite over Ole Miss at DraftKings, with the total set at 55½ points.
Georgia (12-1) edged Ole Miss (12-1) 43-35 on Oct. 18 in Athens, scoring 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come from behind. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton passed for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns in the victory – which served as Ole Miss’ only loss of the season. Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss accounted for 305 yards (263 passing, 42 rushing) and 3 total touchdowns in the setback.
Georgia owns a 34-14-1 record all time against Ole Miss dating back to 1940. The Bulldogs and Rebels have only played 5 neutral-site games throughout history – three times in Jackson, Tenn., and once each in Memphis and Atlanta.
Ole Miss last won in 2024, taking home a 28-10 decision in Oxford.
