Georgia pass rusher to miss spring practice due to injury, per report
Georgia pass rusher Marvin Jones Jr. will not participate in spring practice due to a shoulder injury, per a report.
According to DawgHQ’s Jake Rowe, Jones recently underwent shoulder surgery and will miss spring ball for the Bulldogs. However, the report says he is expected to be ready for fall camp.
This would have been Jones’ 1st spring practice with the Bulldogs. He was a member of Georgia’s 2022 recruiting class and is expected to take a big step forward in 2023.
As a true freshman, Jones put up respectable numbers. He played in 13 games and finished the year with 4 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack. All 4 of his tackles came against SEC opposition. His lone sack was in Georgia’s win over rival Georgia Tech in November.
Jones was a 5-star prospect in the class of 2023. He was the No. 24 overall player and the No. 3 EDGE prospect in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
His absence could mean greater opportunity for a trio of true freshmen pass rushers who enrolled early in UGA’s class of 2023: Damon Wilson, Gabriel Harris and Samuel M’Pemba.
