Georgia offensive lineman Nyier Daniels was arrested on Sunday morning and is facing multiple charges, according to WXIA-TV.
Daniels, a redshirt freshman and former four-star recruit from Newark, N.J., was booked at the Jackson County Jail, about a half-hour from Athens, on Sunday morning. He is reportedly facing a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, along with two second-degree child cruelty charges. Daniels is also facing charges involving “reckless driving, maximum limits, 2x stop sign and yield sign violations, no-passing zones, and more.”
It’s the latest in a rash of vehicle-related arrests involving Bulldogs players over the past several years. The most notable one came in January 2023, when a Georgia recruiting analyst was killed along with OL Devin Willock during a street racing incident involving Jalen Carter. Carter received 12 months of probation, a fine, and community service.
According to The Sporting News, there have been 22 incidents since 2023 where one or multiple Georgia players have been arrested for various charges ranging from speeding and reckless driving to domestic violence. The most recent before Sunday’s came in July, when OL Jahzare Jackson was charged with possession of marijuana. He remained with the team after facing internal discipline, according to Kirby Smart.
