Georgia RHP Emerson Hancock selected with No. 6 overall pick in 2020 MLB Draft

RHP Emerson Hancock is a 4-pitch pitcher for the Georgia Bulldogs and was one of the most dominant pitchers in the SEC the past couple of seasons.
Now, he’s the first Georgia player off the board (and the fourth SEC star to hear his name called in the 2020 MLB Draft. The Seattle Mariners selected him with the No. 6 overall pick in the draft on Wednesday night.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hancock didn’t get to finish the 2020 season with Georgia. In his last full season (2019) with the Dawgs, he went 8-3 with a minuscule 1.99 ERA in 90.1 innings pitched. He struck out 97 batters and walked only 18.

The Mariners went 68-94 during the 2019 season, finishing in last place in the AL West.
