Georgia’s 10-3 win over No. 3 Clemson was a great way to start the season for the 5th-ranked Bulldogs, but the game did result in a significant injury blow for Kirby Smart’s offensive line.

Starting right guard Tate Ratledge sustained a foot injury less than three minutes into the first quarter and didn’t return Saturday night.

On Sunday, the worst-case scenario was realized as news broke via a Facebook post by Ratledge’s mother, Mary, that the 6-6, 320-pound freshman would miss the remainder of the season.

Warren Ericson, a 6-4, 305-pound junior, replaced Ratledge after the injury and is expected to take over the starting job at right guard going forward.

Ratledge, a native of Rome, Georgia, was making his first career start on Saturday and playing in just his second career game. As a high school recruit, he was rated by 247Sports as the No. 37 overall prospect in the country and as a 4-star recruit.

The Bulldogs will return to action next Saturday at home against UAB.
