Georgia State coach Shawn Elliott got a bit too excited at one point during his team’s game against N.C. State this past Saturday.

The Panthers may have lost, 41-7, but Elliott certainly was thrilled with his team’s only touchdown. So much so that it led to him getting hurt.

According to ESPN’s Olivia Harlan Dekker, Elliott tore his right bicep during an “aggressive fist bump” following Georgia State’s lone touchdown. He’ll undergo surgery next week.

That certainly shows how excited Elliott gets when celebrating his team’s accomplishments.

Georgia State won its season opener against Kennesaw State, 24-20, so who knows what happened to Elliott while celebrating during that victory.

Before undergoing surgery, Elliott will coach the Panthers this Friday against Memphis. Georgia State better not score too many touchdowns, or else Elliott may get even more hurt before his right bicep is recovered.

Elliott is in his second season as Georgia State coach. Prior to that, he was an assistant for South Carolina from 2010-16, which included serving as the Gamecocks’ interim coach for six games in 2015.
