Georgia transfer WR Makiya Tongue announces commitment to Pac-12 program

Former Georgia wide receiver Makiya Tongue has found his new home.

The second-year wideout anounced Saturday that he is transferring to Oregon State.

“First I wanted to say thank you to the schools that gave me an opportunity to come to their program. But after talk with my family I’ve decided to commit and continue my career at Oregon State University,” he wrote in a note posted to his Twitter account.

Tongue was a member of Georgia’s 2019 signing class. Out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tongue was rated 4-stars, the No. 9 ATH, No. 12 recruit in Louisiana and No. 196 prospect overall nationally in the class on the 247Sports Composite. He had 25 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennesee and Texas A&M.

Tongue appeared in three games last season. He did not appear in any games this season and was not part of UGA’s road travel roster. Tongue did not record any receptions in his Bulldog career.
