A former Missouri defensive star is headed from the Northeast to familiar territory.

The New York Giants announced on Friday that outside linebacker Markus Golden has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals. In return, the Giants will receive a 6th-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Golden is making his return to Arizona, as he was drafted by the team in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft. He was with the team for 4 seasons and finished 3rd in the NFL in sacks with 12.5 in 2016. In March 2019, Golden departed the Cardinals and signed a 1-year deal with the Giants worth $3.75 million dollars, recording 10.0 sacks that season. After having an unrestricted free agent tender placed on him before the 2020 season, he ended up remaining with the team but registered just 1.5 sacks in 7 games.

At Missouri, Golden was a 2nd-team All-SEC pick for the 2014 season and was named the MVP of the 2015 Citrus Bowl.

The Cardinals host the Seahawks on Sunday night, with kickoff set for 8:20 pm ET.
