LSU fans can finally breathe, Grant Delpit has returned to practice in Baton Rouge.

The preseason All-American had been missing in action with an undisclosed injury for six practices until making an appearance on Wednesday. While Ed Orgeron had been very clear that Delpit’s absence was of no concern to LSU, missing that many practices in training camp had to have brought some uneasiness to some Tigers fans.

It’s one thing to be down a leader, it’s another to be down “the best defensive player coming back in college football this year, no question about it,” according to Orgeron, who made that comment at 2019 SEC Media Days.

When it comes to Delpit’s status, Orgeron admitted after practice that the safety still wasn’t at full capacity.

“He’s not 100 percent but he wanted to come back early,” Orgeron noted on Wednesday.

The 2018 First-Team All-SEC selection has been honored this offseason with the No. 7 jersey in Baton Rouge after leading the SEC in interceptions (5) last season and racking up 74 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, nine pass breakups and four QB hurries for Dave Aranda’s defense.
