It’s a long way from Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season, but Greedy Williams is getting a taste of playing on the first-team defense in Cleveland.
Cleveland.com’s Scott Patsko notes that William is working with the first-team defense opposite of Browns CB Denzel Ward. Patsko cautions that while Williams is working with the starters, he’s not getting truly tested yest. Cleveland’s top three wideouts, including LSU greats Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry (along with former Florida WR Antonio Callaway), have not been participating in the team’s voluntary workouts.
That should change soon enough. Minicamp is next week (June 4-6) meaning Beckham and others will be expected to show up (though Landry is dealing with an injury) and properly test Williams while working with QB Baker Mayfield. Browns coach Freddie Kitchens recently shared his opinion that Beckham is missing “a lot” by not showing up to the voluntary OTAs.
