Former Texas A&M TE Jace Sternberger will have to wait to see any regular-season action in his rookie season.
The Green Bay Packers announced that Sternberger has been placed on injured reserve to start the season. The former Aggie, dealing with an ankle injury, will be eligibile to return to the 53-man active roster in eight weeks.
A consensus All-American at Texas A&M in 2018, Sternberger opted to forego his senior year of eligibility and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. The Packers selected him with the 12th pick of the third round.
Last season, Sternberger was Texas A&M’s leading pass-catcher in all three big receiving categories catches (48), yards (832) and touchdowns (10).
