Greg Knox offers his thoughts on where things went wrong for Florida in 2021
Greg Knox will coach Florida in its regular season finale at home against rival Florida State on Saturday.
Knox was named the Gators’ interim head coach Sunday after Dan Mullen was fired.
Turn the clock back a few months and it’s likely Knox would never have believed that he would be in this situation.
After all, as Florida entered October, it was ranked 10th in the AP top 25.
The Gators, however, lost 5 of 7 games since then, with the lone wins coming against Vanderbilt and Samford, which led to the decision to make a coaching change.
On Monday when he met with the media ahead of the FSU game this weekend, Knox was asked for his thoughts on where things went so wrong for Florida this season.
“We as a team, we didn’t make the plays,” Knox said. “…We made mistakes we were not able to overcome. It’s not a talent issue. It’s a more attention to detail issue.”
