Greg McElroy still believes there’s a chance for his alma mater to make the College Football Playoff.
Alabama took a tumble in the latest rankings released by the CFP committee this week after losing 24-3 at Oklahoma on Saturday. The Crimson Tide fell to 8-3 on the season and went down six spots to No. 13 in the rankings – just outside of the field – with only one regular-season game left to play.
McElroy, who quarterbacked the Tide to a BCS title in 2010 and is now an analyst for ESPN, laid out a path for Alabama to still make the playoff in recent segments.
In short, Alabama needs a lot of help. It starts with SMU and Tennessee both losing games that they probably shouldn’t.
What’s the path for @AlabamaFTBL to make the College Football Playoff??

No love for the ACC for McElroy.
Of course, Alabama also has to beat Auburn this weekend in the Iron Bowl to have a chance of sniffing a Playoff bid. And after the Tide’s offense looked anemic last weekend, and after the Tigers upset Texas A&M, it doesn’t seem impossible that Hugh Freeze’s team could shock the Tide.
