Greg McElroy always breaks down the biggest storylines from the weekend on his Always College Football podcast. On Monday, the former Alabama quarterback identified the 12 teams he thinks will make the College Football Playoff.

The quarterback divided the teams into three tiers: the locks, The Win and ins, and The Highly Likely. McElroy had 7 teams in the lock category: Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, and the champions from the ACC, Big 12 and Group of 5.

McElroy mentioned that his locks are in even if they lose in Week 14. For the next category, McElroy identified 3 teams that are in the Playoff with a Week 14 win: Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Georgia.

“Tennessee, if they beat Vanderbilt, they’re in with a win,” explained McElroy. “I think Georgia, with a win this week, regardless of what happens in the SEC Championship Game, they’ll be in.”

That’s 10 spots accounted for, so McElroy had just 2 remaining. The QB-turned-analyst went with Indiana and whoever loses the ACC Championship Game.

“I don’t think it’s a guarantee, but I think it’s highly likely that these two teams are in,” McElroy explained.

Indiana suffered their first loss of the season in Week 13, but McElroy sees the team getting in anyway as long as they defeat Purdue in Week 14. In last week’s rankings, Ole Miss and Alabama were included, but both fell out after Week 13 losses.
