LSU has had an up-and-down season to this point with a 4-2 overall record, disappointing some in its close loss to Florida State in the first game of the year. But the team has since bounced back with wins over quality competition like No. 17-ranked Mississippi State.

At the same time, there have been mixed opinions surrounding where the program really is with a lopsided 40-13 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers in the most recent game.

College football analyst Greg McElroy recently weighed in on his thoughts on LSU and head coach Brian Kelly, giving the coach and the team a midseason grade of “B-”

“Had they played yesterday, more competitively, we’re sitting there looking at a B. The thing I’ll say about Brian Kelly is that this team, prior to last week, from Week 1 to Week 5 have gotten a little bit better… they’ve improved in some form or fashion.”

Obviously, the Tennessee game and what went on there had an impact, though.

It will be interesting to watch how LSU gets back on track as it faces the Florida Gators on Saturday.
