Greg McElroy admits that Stetson Bennett will be difficult for Georgia to replace at quarterback, but the ESPN analyst noted that Carson Beck has what it takes.

While Beck is competing with Brock Vandagriff, McElroy believes that the pieces Kirby Smart has added through the transfer portal, Smart is showing his hand that the winner of the competition will probably be Beck.

“I look at the guys who are vying for the position, and much like some of the aforementioned guys, I think Carson Beck, having called his spring game and seen him throw it, right there on the field, watching him, seeing the ball come out of his hand, seeing how accurate he is, seeing his ball placement,” McElroy said. “I think Carson Beck is a real, real NFL prospect. I really believe that. Now he’s gotta put it all together, he’s got to play at a high level.”

McElroy also pointed out that Beck is the only QB recruit among the top 50 from 2017 to 2020 that didn’t start in those first 3 years to not transfer.

“Why do you think that is? Either something was promised to him, or he knew the light at the end of the tunnel would result in him being the starting quarterback for a national championship contender,” McElroy said. ”
