Greg McElroy recounts unconventional recruiting visit with Mike Leach

Mike Leach is famous for his press conferences tangents and rants that have nothing to do with football. It’s no act. Leach speaks about whatever is on his mind with anyone and everyone.
Former Alabama QB Greg McElroy is working the booth for ESPN in Friday’s Alamo Bowl, featuring Washington State vs. Iowa State. McElroy was a 3-star recruit out of Southlake, Texas in the class of 2006. It’s no surprise that Leach, then at Texas Tech, recruited a Lone Star State quarterback. McElroy’s visit with Leach, however, was rather unconventional.
In the clip below, McElroy says Leach did not talk football at all. He instead wanted to talk about how many rooms belong in a house. McElroy’s recruiting profile shows no scholarship offer from Texas Tech. Leach may have simply been paying a courtesy visit to an in-state recruit.
