Greg McElroy says Jayden Daniels needs more publicity: ‘I think the sky is the limit’

Greg McElroy has some criticism of the Heisman Trophy in recent years that the award is too often a popularity contest of the quarterback on the best team.
McElroy would like to see the process open to more non-QB positions, and was open to the likes of Georgia’s Brock Bowers, and Alabama’s Kool-aid McKinstry.
But when he surveyed the field of contenders in the SEC, the ESPN analyst found plenty to like about LSU QB Jayden Daniels, and McElroy believes he should receive more attention in the Heisman conversation.
“I think the sky is the limit for Jayden Daniels,” McElroy said. “I’m not going to say he has a Joe Burrow 2019 season coming, but the opportunities for him to grow and improve, based on how he played down the stretch last year are endless. I think he is a guy that more people need to be thinking about as we go into the season as a Heisman Trophy contender.”
