Ole Miss is among the only teams in the nation that remains undefeated through the first 7 games of the season. The Rebels are one of those and there are some who are already predicting they have a chance to both make it into the postseason and potentially contend for a national title.

One of the most pivotal points in the year for this team will be the upcoming matchup against LSU, which will serve as a solid measuring stick as to just whether or not the Rebels have what it takes to realistically go the distance.

Greg McElroy of ESPN took a dive into how the game could go in a recent segment.

“Ole Miss can run the football,” McElroy said of the Ole Miss rushing attack that ranks 3rd in the nation. “They call a run play more 60 percent of the time, that’s the highest rate in the Power 5 this year.”

If this ground game continues to roll the way that it has and this team can improve defensively while continuing to open up the offense, it could continue to rise up the rankings. McElroy dove into the outlook for the long-term.
