SEC commissioner Greg Sankey began Wednesday at SEC Media Days by apologizing for a regrettable moment that occurred on Tuesday.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian walked to the podium with the Aggie War Hymn blaring over the speakers at the Omni, creating an awkward moment for the Longhorns head coach.

Sankey apologized to Sarkisian and Texas for the error.

“Mistakes happen,” Sankey said. “No ill-intent there.”

The moment sure caught the attention from fans who clowned the league for the mixup on social media. Texas A&M has yet to appear at SEC Media Days, but Mike Elko and Co. will head to the podium on Thursday afternoon.

Texas is gearing up for a huge season filled with expectations. The Longhorns are one of the favorites to win the national title this season as they have an elite defense as well as a former 5-star quarterback prospect in Arch Manning. Texas has made the College Football Playoff in each of the last 2 seasons under Sarkisian, but has yet to break through.

In addition to playing an 8-game SEC schedule, the Longhorns will be challenged in Week 1 with a trip to Columbus to battle Ohio State.

Texas and Texas A&M will face off in Austin this year on Nov. 28.
