Greg Sankey, the SEC commissioner, appeared on College GameDay on Saturday. The GameDay crew was going over possible CFP scenarios that end with zero SEC teams getting in.

Sankey was asked what his response would be if the SEC were left out of the playoff.

“That’s not the real world of college football,” Sankey bluntly declared. “Let’s go back to like Sesame Street … one of these things is not like the other, and that’s the Southeastern Conference.”

Since the debut of the College Football Playoff system in 2014, the SEC has had at least one school included each season.

“We have 5 of the top 15 (teams),” Sankey explained. “And our teams are playing everyone in the conference. They’re all attached, they have to overcome a lot of adversity, intense envrironments.”

The Alabama Crimson Tide are facing off against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship. Many have wondered if an Alabama win would eliminate the Bulldogs from CFP contention. With undefeated Washington, Michigan, and Florida State, the final spot could then go to one loss Texas or one loss Ohio State.
