The SEC has had 4 games postponed this weekend, but for the first time, there are rumblings about a game not being made up.

That’s because Alabama and LSU might not have a common date to make up the rivalry game. However, commissioner Greg Sankey said the league is open to shifting things around to make sure every team plays 10 regular-season games.

On Saturday’s edition of College GameDay, Sankey cited a number of changes made to the schedule 3 weeks ago. He did say that teams wouldn’t play repeat opponents this year, though:

“If you go back 3 weeks, on a Friday evening, we announced 6 schedule changes,” he said. “We did that based on letting everyone know their opponent for the next week. This week, we walked into situations that were developing on Monday. Had we adopted a policy to shift games in this rapid time frame, perhaps it would have allowed some matchups to occur this week. What we’re not going to do is have people play repeat opponents or grab opponents out of the air. What we have to do is look and see if there are 2 games that are postponed, can we match up a future game that’s scheduled and make it happen sooner, even on short notice. That’s the mentality, just to maximize flexibility.”

Will we see more major changes to the SEC schedule to accommodate makeup games? We should find out early next week.
