Greg Sankey discussed many things at SEC Media Days. One of the things he spoke about involved time zones, per 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello.

The SEC commissioner explained how people want the SEC to be in four time zones. Sankey stated that the conference doesn’t need to be in order it to be considered a “national conference”.

A lot of people talk about we want to be in four time zones. We don’t need to be in four time zones. I don’t think being a national conference is time-zone specific. We don’t need to be in four time zones. I don’t think being a national conference is time-zone specific — it’s achievement, it’s support, it’s success, it’s interest.

The addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the conference in 2024 will make things more interesting when it comes to time zones. Sankey does not seem interested in bringing over any teams from pacific time to the SEC at the moment.

College football will be going through more changes in 2024 as USC and UCLA will be joining the B1G and leaving the Pac-12. The amount of travel back and forth will be exhausting.

Will the addition of teams like USC and UCLA to the B1G inspire conferences like the SEC to bring on Pac-12 teams as well?
