Greg Sankey, SEC Commissioner, releases a statement on passing of Mike Leach

Greg Sankey has released a statement on the passing of iconic Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach, who passed away Monday night following a medical emergency Sunday evening.
Here is Sankey’s full statement, which he released on Twitter Tuesday following the terrible news.

Leach, simply put, had one of the most brilliant offensive minds in the game of college football. He was essential in the creation of the Air Raid offense and was known for his team’s offensive success. And of course, his charisma.
Leach was a one-of-a-kind character in the college game, touched on as his “insightful commentary” by Sankey. He was known to ramble about anything other than college football in media conferences and his antics were beloved by everybody around the sport, even outside of the state of Mississippi.
