Greg Sankey and the SEC could be in an interesting position when it comes to how many teams from the conference are in the College Football Playoff.
As the regular season nears its end, it is becoming more and more likely that at least 1 or even more SEC teams could be left out of the CFP with a 10-2 record. Strength of schedule has been a talking point throughout the CFP rankings, and Sankey posted a picture of the teams in the CFP conversation highlighting the difficulty of the SEC grind.
Interesting to read analysis from others as they examine “strength of schedule” in college football…it does seem there is a trend to be identified… pic.twitter.com/pXSfxRMxvL

In the graphic, Georgia has played the toughest schedule in college football. No team has a trio of road games that were tougher than Georgia’s, as the Bulldogs had to play at Alabama, Texas and Ole Miss.
With this tweet, Sankey is showing just how difficult and challenging the SEC has been this year. Of all the teams in contention for the CFP, the top 6 toughest average schedules belong to an SEC team. This could be posturing to show the conference deserves many teams in the playoffs.
We are still a couple weeks away from knowing the final CFP rankings, but the posturing is starting to begin already.
