Auburn defensive back Marshall Taylor could play against No. 2 Clemson on Saturday, coach Gus Malzahn said Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference.

Taylor sat out the entirety of preseason camp after he suffered injuries during an altercation several weeks ago in Columbus, Georgia. He just returned to team activities Aug. 22, but he may be ready to suit up against the Tigers and Heisman Trophy contender Deshaun Watson.

“Marshall is definitely capable of playing this week,” Malzahn said. “I don’t know if he will. We’re still trying to get him back in the swing of things and familiar with everything.”

Auburn hosts Clemson at 9 p.m. Saturday in a game that will be nationally televised on ESPN.
